City of Angels Update July 2025

 I used to pray that God would feed the hungry, or do this or that, but now I pray that he will guide me to do whatever I'm supposed to do, what I can do. I used to pray for answers, but now I pray for strength. I used to believe that prayer changes things but now I know it changes us and we change things.

 And yes, you angels change things for the Kings Center! Your prayers and your support and your actions change what we can do and change children's lives! I took my granddaughter to the Grand Theatre for the puppet show several weeks ago and I watched as Deneen escorted almost fifty KC kids into the auditorium. They had walked all the way from the KC in the heat and marched in quietly and politely. They were engaged during the program and well behaved! Your notes of encouragement help to make this happen!

After my June Update and my mention of the kitchen floor, a generous angel and her husband offered to pay for the floor. Hallelujah! It has been rebuilt and is now level, safe and beautiful! Our basement has been redone since the flood damage and it is also beautiful. Deneen and the kids are creating a vibrant play and learning area. We thank everyone who has contributed Legos, games, sports equipment, books and fresh art supplies. It has been such a blessing to rebuild and during these very hot days the basement is the best place to be!

We are presently working on a new website that will keep you more informed about our activities and also provide a place to donate electronically. Believe it or not, the summer is half over and the kids will be returning to school in early August. This is the time if you haven't sent in your yearly support, you can add it to your school supply donation and send one check. I'll be giving the families Walmart cards again this year so they can get what their own child needs for school whether it be clothes, a backpack, or supplies. Thanks again for your generosity.

The children will still be attending the Grand Theatre programs as well as the PSL summer reading programs for the rest of the summer. They recently went to Rebecca Ruth's Candy Tour, the Longest Day of Play, and Unity in the Community.

They will finish with a pool party at Juniper Hills. Thanks again for all you do for our children and I pray that you will feel blessed during this July 4th celebration!
