City of Angels Update January 2025
A life of importance sets the import of giving your life away, to the hidden and the unpopular, to the children and to the forgotten, knowing that this will be remembered by God. (VosKamp)
You angels certainly gave and gave this Christmas to the children of the Kings Center! Their eyes popped when they entered the VFW and several little ones jumped up and down when they saw they had a gift bag! I don't let them open the gifts at the party (it would be bedlam) so they take their bags home with them. One little girl and her Mom almost burst into tears when a piece of tissue paper slipped off the top, revealing a playhouse. That's what I wanted, she shouted!!
Joy was evident as the children gave us a concert! They sang eight Christmas carols and then several girls performed solos and were recognized for winning a coloring contest. Leanne Hadley, Associate Pastor of FUMC, helped with a rousing game of musical chairs.
The children have been off school since the party so the KC has been closed. Hopefully in another week or two I can have them write some Thank yous!
