City of Angels December 2025
As the world fights to figure everything out, I'll be holding doors open for strangers, letting people cut in front of me in traffic, keeping babies entertained in grocery Iines, stopping to talk to anyone who seems lonely, being patient with waiters and sales clerks, smiling at people who pass by. Why? Because I will not stand idly by and live in a world where love is invisible. Join me in showing compassion, understanding, acceptance, and in judging less. Be kind to strangers, give grace to friends who are having a bad day, be forgiving of yourself. Today and every day, be the change, be the light.
During this often frantic time of year it is good to slow down and make our love visible. Of course you angels are already the change and the light to our children at the Kings Center. Thank you again for your faithfulness.
Hopefully most of you have received your child's wishlist. I still have about ten more to send. If anyone needs me to shop for them or needs more ideas please text me. I'm happy to help. Here are some generic ideas: soft small blankets, squishmallows, Jenga game, puzzles, bath bombs, nice lotions, key ring attachments they use on their backpacks, water bottles with sport team names, and LED lights for their bedrooms. Girls like hair clips/bows, make up bags, nail polish and lip gloss. Guys always like basketballs and footballs (even if you gave them one last year! They go through several in a year!) Everyone loves NIKE socks. (They're cheaper online.)
If you've never shopped at Five Below or Popshelf, they are loaded with fun things for kids! Kroger has some great UK and U of L stuff. TJ Max has reasonable hoodies and sweatsuits. The Flamingo Shop on St. Clair Mall is going out of business with 60% off. They still have some fun stuff for girls mostly. Walgreens usually has Frankfort High and FCHS shirts and sweats.
The kids will be practicing songs for the Party and maybe writing some Christmas poems to read. I'm sure the next three weeks will be a bit crazy! Once again:
Please fit your gifts in one large bag and drop off at the VFW on Friday, December 19th, between noon and four. That will save me a lot of hauling. Thanks again for all you do and for being the light to these kids! Kay Scott 502-395-1516
