City of Angels Update March 2025

Rivers do not drink their own water; trees do not eat their own fruit; the sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is...Life is good when you are happy; but much better when others are happy because of you. POPE FRANCIS

You, secret angels, make our children at the Kings Center HAPPY! They love receiving your cards and always want to know who their angels are. Whenever I deliver a Birthday Bag, they want to know whose birthday it is and anxiously surround the child to see the goodies and ooh and ahh. It's always a time of celebration.

I neglected to thank FIRST NEEDLES of FUMC who supplied our children with many hand made hats and scarves and gloves before the cold descended on us! I will try to add some pictures below. I also apologize for my bizarre THANK YOU LETTER that some of you didn't understand! HA! The front page was a picture of the kids at our Christmas Party on the top half and a copy of a Thank You note from Dedrick Slone on the bottom half. I included that because I thought it was cute, I had the space, and he was the only child who drew a picture on his note. He is also a true success story as he regularly attends the KC, is on the Academic Team and received a perfect score on the science test. He's also on the Quick Recall Team that won the regional competition.

On the other side of that Thank you letter was a list of phrases from the kids' Thank You notes that I entitled (and did not edit) Dear Sekrit Angles. I hope you enjoyed a chuckle. It's obvious we have a long way to go to help our children become better spellers and writers. We continue to partner with the Paul Sawyier Library and the Frankfort's Writers Coalition hoping that these experiences will strengthen their skills!

As you know January and February were full of snow days and NTI days. Deneen kept the kids busy reading and doing catch up school work. One group of five girls are going every Friday to KSU for piano lessons. When the weather turned warm for a "second", the kids enjoyed some play time at Dolly Graham park. Meanwhile they are all excited about the new Bike Shed behind the KC that keeps their bikes safe and clean. A huge THANK YOU to BIKE FRANKFORT and CYRUS HINES for the design, building, and financial support for this. Again I will try to add photos at the bottom of this!

I know cards are very expensive (I have 11 siblings, 39 nieces & nephews, and zillions of others I want to send cards to!) Please go to the Dollar Store where there are beautiful Hallmark cards for $ 1 or even 2@$1. You can stock up for the year for your child and always have one ready each month! Thanks again for your faithfulness!

As you observe LENT for the next forty days, please be in prayer for the Kings Center. I believe we have provided a vital service to the children of South Frankfort and I know you have given them much happiness. With what is happening in our nation right now and the uncertainty of future funding, we are trusting God for direction.

May your heart find happiness in the happiness you have brought to our children!
