We don't all stand in the same rain. Some have umbrellas, some have roofs, and
some face the storm alone. Be kinder. Slow your judgment. Soften into
understanding. You don't know how heavy someone's rain is, until you've been in
their storm. (Project Forgive)
After several weeks of beautiful but dry weather, we finally enjoyed some rain today. It
made me think of the above quote. Your words of encouragement to our children can be
an umbrella to their little hearts and minds. We never know for sure what is going on in
their lives, at school, at home, or even at the Kings Center but because of you they
know there is kindness in the world and someone in the community cares. Thank you
for your faithfulness.
Believe it or not they just finished their first week of Fall Break. The Independent School
System has two more weeks. During this time we are open from noon until 4:00 so the
kids can have lunch. Deneen always has intriguing math/science projects for the kids to
do. They often do science experiments in the backyard like making paper airplanes and
the "Egg Drop."
Last Thursday, the children went to the Dominion Senior Living Facility to read to the
elderly. This week they will do a community service project by cleaning the
neighborhood and the Dolly Graham Park. Besides craft projects, kickball games, and
riding bikes, the kids will enjoy an outing to the bowling alley to round out their Fall
Break.
Many of our kids are running cross country for FIS. And several girls are cheering for
FHS and for the Bengals. I think there are eight boys playing for the Bengals and four
older guys playing for FHS. If you follow the State Journal or check out our Facebook
page you may see your child in action!
Thank you for being a refuge from the rain for our kids. I'm sure they feel safer because
of your prayers, cards, and encouraging words. Kay Scott 502-395-1516
